Testimonies of Healing

Ruskin says, "God gives us strength enough and sense...

From the February 1904 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Ruskin says, "God gives us strength enough and sense enough for each day's duties." For years I tried to make that saying the basis of each day's work, but though it seemed that it must be true, I could not believe it, the facts were too strong against it, I thought. I would go to my school work day after day with headaches, with gnawing dyspepsia, and barely pass through the day, returning home weary, worn, and driven to bed to be drugged for the next day's struggles. I did not know what God is. I had not "heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary." I prayed for death to end my miserable existence. But God has proved to be my strength and help in a way that I did not dream of then. I was led by His loving hand to Christian Science, and I can say now that for a year my work has not been in the least tiresome. No rest is needed after school hours, nor has it been sought except in Mind, nor have I used my vacation to renew physical energies for the coming work. Moreover, my sense or thought is being quickened to the real meaning of education. "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength."
