Testimonies of Healing

My parents were members of the Congregational Church...

From the February 1904 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My parents were members of the Congregational Church and my early education having been one of love and reverence for holy living I united with the same church at the age of twelve and can never remember a time when the earnest purpose to settle every question on the side of right was not present with me.

As time moved on I found my health failing amidst increasing responsibilities in life. It seemed more and more difficult to harmonize Jesus' teachings with the demands of materia medica, and nearly seventeen years ago I found myself a physical wreck and heartsick over the perpetual thought of self that the most advanced systems of medicine and hygiene constantly imposed.

Physicians at home and abroad had failed to give a clear diagnosis of my case, but I had struggled on in an unsuccessful effort to re-establish my health, until I was in despair, and as a last resort was induced by a friend to turn to Christian Science.
