It has for some time been a growing conviction that I should add my mite to the already vast accumulation of evidence of the efficacy of Christian Science. In the autumn of 1898 it was first brought to my notice, and although I had the advantage of attending a Christian Science church and carefully noting the services, yet through prejudice and a desire to contest every proposition set forth in Mrs. Eddy's writings, I did not accept the truth until a much later period. This, too, was in the face of the fact that I had been told by those who now seem very near and dear to me, not only of their own healing but of the spiritual and physical healing that was daily and hourly being accomplished.
At last, through the healing of hereditary tuberculosis, I was brought to the full knowledge of the truth as set forth in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," —a truth once taught, but so hopelessly lost to the world that its re appearance could not be termed other than a discovery.
Since my acceptance of Christian Science I have experienced its healing efficacy in so many ways that I can only properly express it by saying I owe every breath I draw to Christian Science. From a haggard, drawn, and emaciated creature, I have become one who is healthy and happy. Among those things that have left me through a proper understanding of this blessed truth are the following: the liquor habit, excessive use of tobacco for twenty years, chronic stomach trouble, and last, but not least, the habit of constant fear and worry over the future. For all the inestimable benefits that have come to me and mine, through the teaching and understanding of Christian Science, I want to express my love, thanks, and devotion to God, and to our great Leader, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.
