It is with a feeling of deep gratitude that I give this testimony. I was, without warning, stricken with paralytic trouble in my face. I had seen the dreadful disease creep over my mother and take her from us while the doctors fought with energy for her life; so, when a few years later I was taken with this same malady, I was filled with great fear,—not so much of death, but of being left to live in such a condition. I was unable to speak distinctly and ate with much difficulty. I came to this city for medical attention, but am happy to state that I found something better than medicine. Friends told me of Christian Science, and I was willing to try it, as I felt the need of more help than the physicians were able to give me. I called upon a practitioner, who told me I need have no fear, and explained this statement to me; but it all seemed so new and strange that I could not readily grasp her meaning. However, I was able to go to my work that day, and took some copies of the Sentinel with me to read, as I was anxious to know more of this truth. I was perfectly healed in about five treatments. That was over two years ago, and I have not had the slightest return of the trouble since.
Divine Truth is the only guide in our home now, and it has helped us to surmount many difficulties. I am indeed grateful to God for His unbounded love, and to Mrs. Eddy for having shown us the way.
