I desire to relate what Christian Science has done for me. I became interested some four months ago, when I heard of its many healings. A dear friend whom we knew well, was visiting us in connection with business matters. He had, like ourselves, been a member of another church; and three years ago, when he left it and went to the Christian Science church, people said that he was lost, but I knew he was a faithful follower of Christ Jesus. I told him of my troubles; that I had often asked myself why God did not answer my prayers, and why I was so afflicted. He told me he had learned in Christian Science that we need not be ill, an assurance for which I am daily thankful to God, and to Mrs. Eddy,— thankful for this truth that makes us free.
My healing has been wonderful ! I had suffered for eighteen years with bowel trouble, was constantly taking medicine, and was always suffering with a headache. I. had attacks of asthmatic trouble, and was getting weaker all the time. Two years before this I had undergone an operation for an abnormal growth, but even this did not help me. Seven months later a child was born, and after that I lost strength so rapidly that it seemed I could not live much longer. In Christian Science we learn how to avail ourselves of this blessed truth which makes us free from disease and sin, and I am reading Science and Health, Der Herald, and the Sentinel, and striving to follow him who said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." I am striving to keep the Commandments, and to love my neighbor as myself.
I am grateful to God for the good health which I enjoy since I began the study of Christian Science. My troubles have vanished one after the other, and I have taken no medicine for the last four months, nor has it been used in our family. My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God, and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, whose purity made her the channel through which the water of life has come to humanity. "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God."
