For eighteen years of my life of twenty-five, I suffered from chronic lung, stomach, liver, and kidney troubles, also from a rupture. In January, 1905, a friend of the family advised a trial of Christian Science, and as I was apparently in a dying condition, and had been told by a local physician to prepare for the worst, I was very willing to try or do anything that might save my life. It is through the acceptance of this great truth that I am able to-day to testify to the healing power of infinite Love. In one month I was healed of my many afflictions and my body restored to a normal condition.
One of the marvelous features of the healing was the cure of the rupture. Before coming into Christian Science if I was one hour without a support this was sufficient to confine me to the bed from two to three weeks, suffering such excruciating pain that I could not lift my head, even to take nourishment. I was not treated specifically in Christian Science for this trouble, but eight months afterward I awoke to the fact that I was healed of it and had forgotten to wear a support during that time. At a test of recent date I lifted six hundred and twenty pounds from the floor, and this I take to be an excellent proof of a permanent cure. It also proves conclusively that error can find no abiding-place when the truth appears. To-day I can, through the understanding of Christian Science, devoutly say, "Father, I thank thee." Through this blessed Science I have been able to raise my mechanical skill and ability to a higher standard, as I am enabled to realize that man's intelligence is a reflection of divine intelligence, which knows no impediment. From day to day I realize more fully man's sonship with God, as demonstrated through Christ Jesus.
My physical healing is in no way comparable to the mental healing, and for the peace of mind and spiritual uplifting thus gained I desire to extend my thanks to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, whose teachings have illumed the Scriptures and thus enabled me to realize in a small way the significance of this verse from Proverbs: "Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.-"Indianapolis, Ind.
