It is now ten years since I first heard of Christian Science, but I would not have it mentioned to me at that time, although I was a great sufferer. I was like one of those of whom Jesus said: "Because they seeing see not: and hearing they hear not. neither do they understand." With every year my troubles became more unbearable; yet, expecting God's help, I went from one church to another without finding peace or comfort. However, when I seemed to be in greatest need, the light of divine Love came once more into my life. This time I understood the call. I immediately felt the power of Truth, and an inward voice told me that this was the way which I had been seeking.
Soon after this I called upon a Christian Science practitioner, and not only was quickly healed of a painful heart and stomach trouble as well as of a nervous complaint, but I also found the highest gift—the peace of God, man's at-one-ment with God through Christ. I experienced an overwhelming sense of happiness when I gradually discerned the magnitude of divine Love, but it took many a hard struggle till I grew firm enough to see my faults and subdue them. Never shall I forget the following experience. I had burned my thumb, and went to a practitioner with a sense of severe pain. After the first treatment the pain disappeared, and in one week's time the finger was completely healed, but to my dismay it was quite stiff. The removal of this defect proved to me that divine Love can help instantly, for during the additional treatment which I had asked the practitioner to give me, I suddenly was able to bend the finger, and it was as supple as formerly.
It is two years now since I awoke to the true sense of life. My gratitude and love to God is boundless for having shown me the way to Truth, to divine Science, through which I have become a better woman.
