From the July 1911 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am sincerely grateful for unexpected relief from physical suffering and from moral and spiritual darkness, and I wish to testify to the inestimable benefits which Christian Science has brought to me; also to express my heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Eddy for giving to suffering and bewildered humanity her wondrous work, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." My first acquaintance with Christian Science was not made in a spirit of good will, as I was prejudiced against it. For several years I had suffered from stomach and nervous disorders, following an attack of poisoning which baffled the skill of the best physicians and seriously affected my eyesight, compelling the use of glasses. Neither the physician, the surgeon, nor the oculist gave me relief, and at last, almost in despair, I consented to visit a Christian Science practitioner, more to please a friend than in the expectation of obtaining relief. One visit changed my views, however, and within ten days I was completely cured of all my physical troubles, my glasses were put aside forever, and whereas for ten years previously I had used medicines almost daily, their utter worthlessness was made apparent to me by Christian Science and their use discontinued.

With relief from physical suffering came spiritual light, and at least a corner of the veil of materialism has been lifted, and an understanding of the inner harmonies and the divine laws of Truth revealed to me, for which I am truly thankful to God.
