It is from a heart overflowing with thankfulness to God that I tell of some of my experiences since I first learned of Christian Science. About three years ago my daughter who lives in London wrote and begged me to try this healing truth, as she had a friend who had been completely cured by it. I was at that period very weak and afraid to venture anywhere alone, as I had been told I had some heart affection, and had to be careful in going up hills or stairs often; but above all I was warned that I must never be without a remedy which I was taking night and morning, else I could not live. With all due respect to those kind doctors, I have, however, lived the last three years without any medicine, and have enjoyed better health than I had known for twenty-eight years previously. I have also had numerous proofs of God's love and goodness in healing and protecting me.
Above all else, I am most grateful for a new and better understanding of God, who I once believed sent all our troubles and diseases, and that we ought to bear them patiently in consequence. Now I know that God is Love and Truth and Life, and that He sends nothing to us but good, as He is all-good and an ever-present help in every time of trouble. Knowing this, I now have no fears and the world is far different to me than ever before; the very sun shines brighter, and my daily prayer is that I may be some day worthy to be called a true Christian Scientist. I am also grateful for Mrs. Eddy's noble life, and for all she has done in bringing the good news to so many seekers who have found rest and peace through her.
Christian Science makes people less selfish, for they think more of others and less of themselves, loving their neighbors and not judging harshly and often wrongly, as before, but doing to others as they would like to be done by. It has been my one desire since getting such benefit to tell it to all the world, that they might benefit by it also.
