Seven years ago Christian Science found me suffering in mind and body, several operations previous to this time having failed to give me relief. Another was decided upon, and this called forth much fear and worry, which increased the physical suffering. I learned later, in Christian Science, that disease is mental, fear often being the sole cause. I had just left the doctor's office, where plans had been made for me to go to the hospital three days later, when I crossed the street and went into another building, where I told a lady of my distress. She advised me to try Christian Science first, and said there was a Scientist who had her office there, and that I could go and talk with her. I went to the next floor, found the place, and went in and sat down, along with several others who were waiting. How strange it all seemed to me—no instruments of torture, no medicine bottles in sight; and this fact alone did away with some of my fear. When my turn came, I had a short talk with the practitioner, then she gave me treatment and I went home with my heart full of hope. After four weeks' treatment I was healed of the physical ailment, and was benefited morally and mentally.
Words cannot express how I felt: during those four weeks as day after day I saw malice, hate, anger, jealousy, resentment, pride, etc., giving way to the knowledge that God, good, is All. f What a blessing to know that good is the reality and evil unreal. Christian Science has given me nobler life-motives, besides health, and it helps me to overcome many difficulties which come up in every-day life. For all this I am very grateful to God, and also to our dear Leader for the truth which has helped me in my journey from sense to Soul— Cleveland, Ohio.
