In the winter of 1879-80 I was employed in a locality far removed from medical aid of any kind, when I experienced the full force of the words, "Lo, I am with you alway," and the fifteenth verse of the ninetyfirst first Psalm, though at that time I was not sufficiently enlightened to realize properly "from whence cometh my help." I awoke one night with pain, which grew worse and worse, and at last it became unbearable. I instinctively felt that it would be a relief to die, and in agony cried to God to relieve me. Immediately a change passed over me, and in a few minutes the intense pain grew easier, and continued to do so until sleep came again, and when I awoke I was in my usual condition.
In December, 1907, my daughter, through the influence of a dear friend, commenced to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and was healed in a very short time by this reading. She has thereby risen from a life of languor and pain to one of cheerful activity.
In 1908 I was led to read Christian Science literature, and became more and more interested in it. At that time I had no thought of receiving any personal benefit by so doing, but from the uplifting influence and understanding gained by this reading, in connection with the Bible, many old ills have disappeared. The use of liquor and tobacco now appears as a dream of the past. This deliverance was followed by the overcoming of a bowel disorder in its worst form, also of corns, an eruption on the hands, and many other ailments. I have also been delivered from "the snare of the fowler."
