When I was unable, physically and mentally, to meet the duties of my life, and when I had given up in despair the hope of ever being well, Christian Science was brought to my notice. I had known nothing of Science, and fearing that it was but one of the various cults which had come to my knowledge and none of which I could accept, I determined first to learn something of its teachings and then if possible to try it. To this end I went to a Christian Scientist, told her my desire, and asked for information. With great kindness and helpful words she gave me several copies of the Sentinel, which I read and reread, pondered the meaning of the articles and testimonies, meanwhile reading the Bible.
For three weeks this work occupied my time and thought. I then knew I wanted the healing, and with this conclusion came with great joy the realization that I was well. The Sun of righteousness had risen "with healing in his wings;" the light of Truth had displaced the darkness of despair and had dispelled the illusion which had seemed so real. During the three years since then, by the study and application of this blessed truth we have been able, in a family of eight, to meet and overcome many forms of error, including fevers of different types.
Our hearts overflow with love and gratitude to God for the blessings we receive from the better understanding of Him gained in Science, and of man as made in His image and likeness. My prayer is so to live as to be a vessel fit for the Master's use. I would also add my mite to the great offering of thanksgiving from the hearts of many, that we have known Mrs. Eddy,—known her in the way she would have us know her, namely, through her works, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and her other writings. She has taught us how to live, so that we may attain "the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ." Thank God for Christian Science!—Meridian, Miss.
