After a long period of silence I feel impelled to testify to the manifold blessings which my dear ones and myself have experienced through Christian Science. About a year and a half ago my wife suffered with a serious disease, the cure of which was doubted by the physicians. Our condition was one of dull despair, but "man's extremity is God's opportunity." A friend advised me to turn trustingly to Christian Science, of which I had never heard before; but I followed his advice, and asked a local practitioner to take up treatment for my wife. Our hopes were not deceived, as there was a gradual improvement from the start, and treatment continued for about two and a half months resulted in a perfect healing.
Since then we have had frequent occasion to appreciate the blessings of Christian Science. An aunt was healed of severe rheumatic pain within a very short time, and our little daughter of whooping-cough. Divine Science also brought relief and improvement to my seventy-year-old father-in-law, who had an apoplectic attack in the summer of 1911. This fills us with a sense of joy and gratitude to God, the all-loving Father, and also to the revered Founder of the Christian Science movement, Mrs. Eddy, who discovered and demonstrated the truth of spiritual being as brought to the world by Christ Jesus.
And how can we best show the sincerity of our gratitude? Shall it not be through striving, with watching and prayer, to follow the teachings of our Master, Christ Jesus, and our Leader's revelations referring thereto? to put them into practise, that we may be not hearers only, but also "doers of the word"? —Bottmingermühle b.
