I cannot say that I am a Christian Scientist, as I am a member of another church. I feel, however, that for the sake of others I should bear testimony to what God has done for me through Christian Science treatment. In the early part of 1911 I was taken down with what was called muscular rheumatism. I employed the best medical aid and adhered to material means until the suffering was unbearable, when I sent for a Christian Science practitioner. He arrived when the suffering was intense, and treatment was given at once. To my delight I got relief, which continued until I was at my daily duties as usual.
Later, I took a heavy cold, accompanied by a severe attack of erysipelas in my face, which closed my eyes completely. The suffering was terrible, and I again had Christian Science treatment. That evening, however, my face presented such an appearance that the household became alarmed, and my husband called in a medical doctor, who applied drugs to my face and head. I put in a dreadful night, and when the practitioner came the following morning, the cloths and medicine were discarded, and the doctor was dismissed. The battle between Truth and error lasted a number of days, but finally victory was won on the side of Truth. I was once more free and well.
My health has been good for over a year now, and I have not had a sign of either ailment. I give this testimony with the hope of helping some other sufferer. I am glad that the Word of God can be relied upon for healing, even in this age, as well as for destroying sin. The Bible says, "He sent his word, and healed them." I send this with loving gratitude to God for the means that help to bring the kingdom of heaven on earth.— Peterboro, Ontario
