The testimonies of others have been so great a help and encouragement to me that it seems an imperative duty as well as a great privilege for me to add my own. The physical healing through Christian Science has not been so great a factor in my personal experience, although I am grateful for many most decided and satisfactory results following the declaration of the truth when error seemed to cry out; but I wish to express my appreciation of and gratitude for many loving-kindnesses which have been tendered me by Scientists who were practically strangers, and for many other benefits received through Christian Science. Above all this, however, I am grateful for the fundamental change which has taken place in my mental attitude toward God and my fellow men during a two years' journey from the standpoint of a practising and teaching physician, with no God other than an indefinite idea of the power outside ourselves "which makes for righteousness." From my present standpoint as a Christian Scientist, I have a very lively sense of the living God of infinite power, wisdom, and love, who is not only able and willing, but waiting, to give us all the power and all the wisdom we need to accomplish whatever we have to do.
On this journey, accompanied as it has been by the seeming loss of the regard of professional and social friends, and even of members of my family, because of my adoption of Christian Science, the realization has come that like our Master I can say, "Whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother." Along the arduous way of demonstrating supply I have learned that divine Love is the only real, eternal substance; so remembering this, we have now and here abundant supply, and there is no fear that it will not be ample tomorrow and next day.
So day by day, as I become better acquainted with God, I find that the only thing in the world worth striving for is the peace that passeth understanding, and it is coming to abide more and more with me as I walk humbly and prayerfully in the Master's footsteps, along the way Mrs. Eddy has shown us. I am most sincerely and deeply grateful to God for Christian Science, with all that this includes,—for our text-book, for the organization, the publications, and the privileges of church-membership.—M.D., Chicago, III.
