I desire to give grateful acknowledgment of the power of Truth as manifested in a recent healing in my family. About a year ago a very peculiar nervous affection seemed to take possession of our small daughter. The complaint in materia medica would be termed St. Vitus' dance, and we suddenly realized that we had a serious condition to contend with. We were contemplating a trip of a few weeks' duration, thinking that a change of climate and surroundings might be effectual, but on returning to our home after a two weeks' trip, we very clearly saw that we must look away from things temporal to things eternal, as we are taught to do in Christian Science. We applied to a practitioner, and with her help the work was begun in earnest. It meant a hard struggle, and as fear would take possession of me and drag me down, I had to turn more quickly to Truth.
It is with a grateful heart that I think of how the faithful practitioner would recognize the workings of error and present the truth which would meet the situation, thus gradually bringing freedom to my oppressed thought. Our child has gradually improved since this experience, and nearly a year has elapsed since the wonderful demonstration was made. This healing seemed a miracle, but I know it was in accordance with divine law.
I am most grateful also for the spiritual aid which I have experienced, and which has been the greatest help I have ever known in overcoming material difficulties,—a never-failing source of comfort and peace. Fear of disease has disappeared, and I now in a measure realize the assurance of divine protection, of God's unceasing care. I have been a student of Christian Science only a short time, but it has brought much happiness and harmony into my life. I thank God for His love and tender care, and for giving us Mrs. Eddy's teachings to point out the living way.—Lancaster, Pa.
