One morning in August, 1912, I awakened with paralysis, my right side seeming to be lifeless. I had my daughter telephone to a practitioner for Christian Science treatment, and to my surprise I was enabled to go to her office after the fourth treatment, and at the end of five more treatments I was entirely well. Twenty years ago I had a like attack, and it took me from three to four months to recover, besides the expenditure of nearly five hundred dollars. The attending physician was considered one of the best in the city. Having been a physician, I know the nature of such attacks, for I have had a number of similar cases, and I could not even imagine myself recovering in anything like so short a time as I did under Christian Science treatment. It is wonderful!
I also wish to state that my eyesight has been improved, so that I can now see better and more clearly without my glasses, while walking on the street, than I could with them at the time the treatments began, and I am able to read three to four hours daily. My thankfulness to God, and my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, the Founder of Christian Science, is more than I can express. I am also thankful for the understanding of God and man's relationship to Him, as gained in Christian Science.
On August 15 a former patient of mine had an attack of spinal meningitis during the night. A physician was sent for, but he administered no medicine, being afraid of the case. In the morning I was called in, but instead of prescribing material remedies, having myself had such wonderful benefit in Christian Science, I recommended the practitioner who had helped me, with the result that within three treatments all was well. I know that Christian Science treatment does what materia medica fails to do.— Chicago, Ill.
