I wish to express my thankfulness for the good Christian Science has done for me. I have known of this teaching for about twenty years, through the healing of my mother of a serious spinal injury caused by a fall. While at home, I depended upon her to treat my little ailments, and not until last summer did I come to know that I had a work to do for myself in this way.
At that time I was taken with typhoid fever, and when I asked a practitioner for help I was in a critical condition. From the first treatment I felt a change for the better, and while it seemed best to rest from work, it was only a short time before I was back on my route, attending to my regular duties. I have never had any experience with medicine to speak of, but knowing as we do the results under materia medica in similar cases, my healing seems truly wonderful, as it was accomplished in such a short time and left no bad after effect.
I had always enjoyed reading the Christian Science literature, and especially the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, but I had never cared to interest myself in the Lesson-Sermon until after this healing. My wife had been cured through this truth of an ailment of several years' standing, and she had become so interested in Science that we took up the study of the Lesson-Sermon together, and we find it a great help in gaining an understanding of life and of God. I have learned through this study that the healing of disease is but secondary, for in striving to grow better in mind we forget mortal sense. For the understanding of this healing truth, I am very thankful to God; also that I have found Him to be All-in-all.— Amarillo, Texas.
