In the three years we have been studying Christian Science we have had many demonstrations which to me seemed wonderful. Among the ailments which have been healed, were varicose veins, and a pain between the shoulders resulting from an injury received several years before. This pain did not trouble me continually, but at times was so severe that I could hardly dress myself. We called on a Christian Science practitioner for help, and after two or three treatments it vanished.
While I feel grateful for all these manifestations of divine power, and many others that I could enumerate for myself, my husband, and my little girl, yet the greatest one to me was the birth of our little son last December. I cannot say the birth was entirely painless, but I feel thankful indeed for Christian Science, for I am sure that if I had been free from fear the demonstration would have been more complete in this regard. On the third day I sat up to eat dinner, and on the fifth was dressed and doing some of the lighter work. This seemed indeed wonderful to me when compared with a previous experience.
I could tell of many more blessings that have been ours to enjoy since coming into Science, but we are trying to show our gratitude by our actions, not by words alone. I do not want this truth to mean merely "loaves and fishes" (Science and Health, p. 90) to me, so I am striving for a higher spiritual understanding, whereby I can realize the absolute nothingness of matter and be guided by divine Principle. Words are inadequate to express my thankfulness to God for what Christian Science has done and is doing for our family, but we know, as our Leader has pointed out, that true gratitude is best expressed in deeds.— Amarillo, Texas.
