In the hope that what I am about to relate may be the means of bringing a measure of encouragement to some wanderer in the wilderness of doubt and despair, I am encouraged to give publicity to the benefits I have experienced through the power of Christian Science to harmonize the lives of sinning and suffering humanity.
It is more than seven years since I first began to investigate Christian Science, and although my study has been far from profound or systematic, it has nevertheless been sufficient to enable me, with the occasional assistance of a practitioner, to refrain from the use of material remedies during the whole of that time, to control in appetite for intoxicants, and also to meet with a measure of equanimity serious business reverses as well as the petty annoyances and impositions which are the daily experience of the average business man.
Recently I had an attack of acute lung trouble. A Christian Science practitioner was called up on the telephone, and after three treatments the fever was allayed, and in six days the disease was entirely overcome. Two weeks later symptoms of jaundice appeared. A practitioner was again called up, and within half an hour the trouble was overcome, and in two days I was entirely healed. Four weeks after the first attack of illness, I was again at my desk, with no trace of the experience other than the weakness incidental to the malady, and I have gained steadily in strength and vigor.
