Testimonies of Healing

In Psalms we read: "What shall I...

From the January 1915 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In Psalms we read: "What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me? I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people." As I look over the past five years that Christian Science has been in our home, I feel it a duty to tell others of the blessings we have received, although space could not be afforded me to tell all.

Before learning of Christian Science we were very much discouraged, as my husband was unable to fill his position, though he was under the care of different physicians, who did all they could for him. A day or so before this healing truth was brought to our attention by a friend, this verse from Matthew came to me: "Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?" These words brought a sense of deep peace and trust, as we seemed to be in great need materially; but our greatest need was the truth, which we received shortly. Our first Christian Science literature was two Sentinels, and my husband was healed of bad eyesight while reading them, although he had been unable to read without glasses for months. He was healed in a short time of the other ailments, and returned to his position, which he has kept ever since.

I was not thinking of myself when we became interested in this great truth, though I was subject at that time to a throat affection. Every cold, and I had colds frequently, would affect my throat, leaving me with a cough which would last for months. It has been three years since this disappeared. As I am the mother of three children, I have seen many ailments, such as whooping-cough, measles, croup, fevers, and colds, disappear before the power of Truth, as darkness before light, and for this I am deeply thankful to God, and grateful to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I hope that I may be found worthy to be called a Christian Scientist.—
