Eight years and a half ago I took up the study of Christian Science and commenced treatment for bronchial trouble and catarrh. Like the woman of old, I had "suffered many things of many physicians, . . . and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse."
For six months absent treatment was given me. About the time I stopped having treatment a great sorrow came into my life and I was left the guardian of two boys and the trustee of my husband's estate. In July of that year, 1906, I again asked for treatment, which I received every day for two years, mostly absent. There had been great improvement since first taking up Christian Science, but having been treated so long I felt my problem must be worked out alone; yet I was still manifesting great bodily inharmony. I tried to help myself for a year and a half, and my third practitioner found me standing alone for Christian Science in a southern mountain town. Treatment was continued off and on for three years.
And what have been the results of so much treatment? My healing both spiritually and physically has been so complete that scarcely a trace of the catarrh or bronchial cough remains. My grandmother became a Christian Scientist through reading the Sentinel and Journal, and the improvement in her health, sight, and hearing has been wonderful. She and her son and two daughters, with their families, have been united after a separation of thirty five years, the children not even knowing their mother's whereabouts.
