I think I should wait no longer to express my gratitude for the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. I had been a careless Christian, attending church as the result of custom only, and nourishing within me a mind which looked at religion and the Bible as a puzzle to be left alone. I, however, thirsted for something more reasonable and practical, and while on the verge of utter indifference to things spiritual, I became interested in Christian Science through the remarkable change it brought in the health of my wife, who was healed by absent treatment while continually reading the textbook herself.
A knowledge of the truth has brought great good into my household, and its presence is better understood than before. Things which seemed gloomy, now have a silver lining, and the light is gradually increasing. I am growing to overcome my greatest opponent, fear; and although I have not been through any serious bodily illness, I think I have been cured of worse than that.
I am glad to say that I am one of a small band in this town, and I have had the privilege of reading the Lesson-Sermon regularly in our little reading-room. Although I am only a beginner in Christian Science, and despite the considerable odds which one has to face in the commercial world, I learn more and more of the truth every day, and it is my sincere hope that I shall in the end demonstrate man's real birthright.
