Christian Science has removed such a terrible dread from my life, and also prevented so many years of physical suffering, that I rejoice in the opportunity to tell others and so perhaps lift a cloud of fear and discouragement from them.
About ten years ago I was operated on for the removal of a growth in the right breast, which had first been noticed several years previous, and at the time the operation was decided upon was increasing much more rapidly than it had been. It was examined by three of the best doctors in Philadelphia, two of them specialists, and all advised the operation.
Four or five years ago a second growth appeared in another part of the right breast, or what was left of it. At this time I knew a little about Christian Science, as my sister had been healed through it of serious heart trouble. I did not understand much of it and was not keenly interested in it, but from what I knew of the nature of these growths it was clear to me that operations were only a temporary means of putting off the ultimate end, and that this meant terrible suffering. The very thought of what this growth was, filled me with unspeakable fear and horror, as my father and a grandmother had suffered from the same trouble. A friend also had passed away with this disease after a long period of suffering and after having tried all known remedies.
