Testimonies of Healing

Gratefully I can thank God for...

From the June 1916 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Gratefully I can thank God for a satisfying proof of His ever-presence. On Oct. 23, 1913, I was walking on Sixth Avenue where contractors were moving a derrick from the top of a twelve-story building then in course of erection. As it stuck a little, a man used a crowbar to dislodge it, and the force of the swinging boom knocked off the new cornice, so that about three tons of timber, terra-cotta, and brick fell to the street. I was on the opposite side of the street and was thrown to the ground, cut and bruised, even my clothes being torn. The contractors took me to their doctor's office, but he was not in, so I went to my home, three miles away. A Christian Science practitioner began to give me treatment immediately, so that I was relieved from pain.

The fourth day, and from that time on, I was in my office as usual. The twelfth day, however, I was examined by the surgeon from a casualty company. He declared my arm to be in a bad condition and reported to his company that I should have an operation for infection, to avoid blood-poisoning; nevertheless, by the twenty-seventh day all marks of the mishap had disappeared, although there had been no operation, and no treatment except that of Christian Science, proving the ever-present power of God to heal all discordant conditions.

I know of no one in better health than myself, and although but a young student of Christian Science I have had many beautiful demonstrations of the power of Truth: I am more grateful than I can express, and write this testimony hoping it may help others to grasp the import of the Master's words, "Fear not," as in Christian Science we find an ever-present help in every time of need.—
