I can no longer delay acknowledging the great help Christian Science proved to be at the birth of our little boy. On two previous occasions, before I had heard of Christian Science, I depended entirely on medical aid, and an anesthetic had to be administered. This time, as I had no desire for any other help than Christian Science treatment, only the practitioner and the nurse were present at the birth. The result was beautiful. A most wonderful peace, that indeed passes human understanding, was with me with such continuity that the small amount of pain once or twice experienced seemed almost immediately effaced from consciousness. The whole time I was supplied with thoughts of Truth, which gave me peace and strength.
Three days later a sudden attack made me very weak and exhausted, so the practitioner was sent for. While waiting for her, the thoughts of Truth which came to me in passages from the Bible and Science and Health never failed me. I soon grew better, and after the practitioner had been with me a little while I felt perfectly well, and as if I had indeed been brought out into "a large place," so great was the sense of freedom. Without effort I was up and about in a few days, and feeling very thankful for the experience, which was such a reversal in every way of what I had gone through before, every material law being annulled.
I am glad to be able to give this testimony, for I know how eagerly I looked for similar ones to encourage me, and how much I was helped by them. I truly passed through a period of regeneration, and the gratitude I owe to Christian Science is great indeed.— Putney, London, S.W., England.
