I have long felt that I should tell what Christian Science has done for me. For years I had suffered from stomach trouble at different times, but a few years ago, while visiting a daughter in Washington, D. C, my health began to fail rapidly. I returned to my home in March and went to a physician, who prescribed for me; but as I was no better after taking the medicine, he advised me to try another remedy, and I did so with no better results. After an unusually severe attack we called our family physician. He could not decide whether the trouble was ulcers, gall-stones, or a malignant growth, but thought it was the last, as all the conditions pointed to it. I kept getting worse, and at last sent for my two daughters to come home.
In August the doctor brought a specialist to see me, and after an examination I was put on a diet of crackers and water. That evening I was taken before a clinic of twenty-four doctors, and it was decided that there was a malignant condition. After this the attacks came every week or ten days, until an opiate afforded the only relief. At this time a friend asked me to try Christian Science, saying the study of it was helping her; but I kept putting it off.
One of my daughters was called back to her own home the first of September, and the wonderful healing of her son's wife and baby induced the whole family to try it. They sent me the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures'' by Mrs. Eddy, and urged me to have treatment. I began to read the book, and also received help from them. In January I had the last and worst attack. The doctor twice administered a hypodermic and held out very little hope of my recovery. In the morning I was in such a condition that we decided to call a Christian Science practitioner. He came and gave me a treatment, promising to come again the next day. When he arrived I was helping my daughter with the washing. I had two treatments after this and have never had another attack. My health is better now than it has been for many years.
