Having read in the Christian Science periodicals so many testimonies that have been helpful to me, I want to tell of my own experience. In December, 1913, I was taken ill with fever. I tried to help myself as taught in Christian Science, but had not sufficient understanding to overcome the ailment. Then my daughter gave me treatment, but fear seemed to take such hold of her that she thought it best to call a practitioner, and did so. The fever was arrested, but I seemed prostrated, and for two weeks all that passed my lips was a little liquid. It was surely proven to me that God is my life, for almost every complication set in,—terrible hemorrhages, acute lung trouble, feet swollen to several times their normal size, and bowel disorder,—but we relied on God alone.
Although the healing was slow, I feel that if it had not been for Christian Science I should not be here today. My hair all came out, but now at the age of sixty-one I have a very heavy growth, and this to me is a wonderful demonstration. After I recovered from the fever and its complications, a lump formed below the breast and caused me untold agony. It discharged for over a year, during which time I trusted God, knowing that divine Love never faileth, and now it has ceased diseharging and the depression is nearly filled out. I know that "whatsoever God doeth, it shall be forever."
Words can never express my gratitude for these and many other demonstrations of the power of divine Love. I am trying to work out my own problems, and occasionally to do a little work for others. In Bible language I can say, "What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?"—Lebanon. Ohio.
