Christian Science is teaching me...

From the October 1917 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science is teaching me to be grateful for good and is putting out of my thought the fear of evil. A quite remarkable healing came to me three years ago, and it may be helpful to mention it to others, as it has helped me and made me stronger in faith.

My work is the operation of a large excavating machine, and in July, 1913, I received a severe injury to my right eye, which was burned by hot oil thrown into it from a bearing. The physician who made an examination said the outer membrane of the eyeball was gone, and that the injury to the delicate parts of the eye made it seem impossible to save the sight. He was not employed to treat the eye, but I had treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. The physician was passing our works a few days later and expressed surprise that I should he at work as usual. He looked at my eve and said it seemed to be all right. He thought it was wonderful that the eye was well and that I had been able to work all the time. There was no after trouble, and the sight of the eye is normal. There is no scar or other sign of the injury.

I am grateful for Christian Science; even a slight understanding of the teachings given us in our textbook has brought me out of bondage to old beliefs in creed and in material remedies, and this freedom is the great demonstration of the healing power of Truth in my life. I have had many experiences of healing besides the one related above, but my release from the old forms of bondage is valued most.—
