In 1908, while daily praying that my husband might be healed of the liquor habit, I was handed a paper containing the testimony of a man who had been healed of this same discordant condition. Deciding at once that what would heal one would heal others, I started out to investigate Christian Science. We went to the testimony meeting that evening, and also borrowed some literature. We both began to read it, and I may say with gratitude that my husband has never tasted liquor or had any desire for it from that day to this.
I was so overjoyed with his healing that I devoted most of my time to the reading of the literature, and in a short time found that I too was healed of a condition from which I had suffered since the age of sixteen. Before taking up this study I had been under the care of seven physicians, and had been in the hospital for an operation, but without receiving any benefit. My husband had taken a well known so-called "cure," but it did not remove the false appetite. He was never free from the desire for liquor until he began the study of Christian Science. Both these healings came about entirely through the reading of the Bible, together with Science and Health and other authorized Christian Science literature. Besides these we have had numerous other healings.
We are members of The Mother Church and have had the privilege of class instruction. I am grateful for the privilege of helping others, as well as teaching in the Sunday school. I am also grateful to Mrs. Eddy for showing us the way to learn the truth about God and man.— Dayton, Ohio.
