One Sunday morning I found upon awaking that I could not speak aloud. As I was first reader in a branch church and my duties began in a few hours, fear and anxiety came over me. I turned to my Christian Science books, and opening Mrs. Eddy's Message for 1901 read, "Rest assured you can never lack God's outstretched arm so long as you are in His service" (p. 1). I cannot tell in words what this declaration meant to me. I went right along with my morning duties, not with trembling and doubt, but with courage and trust. After nine o'clock, as there was no outward sign of my being able to speak aloud, and the fear in my home was loudly voiced, I asked for treatment. The help was so lovingly given and so humbly accepted that at eleven o'clock I stood in my place with a voice as clear and strong as usual.
Words fail to express my deep thankfulness to God for Christian Science, the provable truth of God's omnipotence, and my love to the author of our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." I received at that morning service just a glimpse of the privilege and blessing it is to be in God's service, a servant to voice His word.—Manchester, N. H.
