I had tried all the medical profession had to offer, even to a severe diet which one of our best physicians thought would cure me; but finding material means unable to bring relief, I turned to Christian Science as a last resort, and was healed in a few treatments of severe headaches and of chronic bowel disorder which had troubled me since I was a youngster. I was also healed of chilblains and have laid aside glasses.
Another condition which had to be overcome was my prejudice against anything of a religious nature. I had not attended church for thirteen years, in fact was an outspoken infidel and more or less of an atheist; but when Science and Health was read through carefully it was found to be that for which I was looking,—a "Key to the Scriptures." It explained to me all the supposed contradictions in the Bible. At first I resented the idea that God had anything to do with my healing, and thought that instead of Christian Science healing it should be called mental healing; but when I had read the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," all through, and upon advice "The Life of Mary Baker Eddy" by Sibyl Wilbur, then my prejudice against God and theology left me, and I was able to make great progress.
Words cannot express my gratitude for Mrs. Eddy's splendid gift to mankind. I am also grateful to the Scientists who helped me in the beginning, and for the literature, which is of great assistance to the student of this Science.—Great Falls, Mont.
