When Christian Science found me eight years ago, I was strongly impressed by the clear explanations of some Bible verses in a copy of Der Herold der Christian Science, and the longing to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy became so strong that I secured a copy though I did not understand English. With a dictionary I began to translate the first chapter, and very soon was convinced that Christian Science was the Comforter promised by Jesus and that, my need to know God was met. It would be impossible to enumerate the many blessings received through the study and application of the teachings of Christian Science. I had grown up with the belief of poverty and was often troubled by the thought of what I should do if I had no work, but with in my growing understanding of Science and Health these thoughts of fear gradually left me.
In October, 1914, in order to help somebody I had to give up some new work I was about to undertake, but I knew I should want for nothing and was greatly blessed by this thought. In November, when getting ready to go to our Wednesday meeting, I received a letter from the front in which I was asked by a friend who had been taken prisoner, to send to her mother every month some money. At first I was very glad I could do something for my friend's mother, but on recalling the small sum in my possession I was sad, for if this money were sent to her I would soon be without funds, I thought, as at that time I was receiving no salary and could not look for a position. Suddenly the thought came that all I had God gave me and that He certainly would supply my needs.
