Christian Science came to me when I was greatly in need both mentally and physically. Within thirty days after I took up the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures'' by Mrs. Eddy, and other authorized literature, chronic bowel and stomach trouble were permanently healed. Following this I was healed of burns, quinsy, the smoking habit, and an ingrowing nail. There was also a remarkable improvement in my eyesight, strong glasses being no longer needed after eighteen years of constant use. Our children have been healed of convulsions, measles, burns, earache, croup, abscesses, and ivy poisoning. A baby girl, during a time when scarlet fever was prevalent, was healed almost instantaneously, of what appeared to be a fully developed case. Some of these healings were brought about with the help of a practitioner but most of them were the result of the application of the teachings of Science and Health by members of our family.
That Christian Science is preventive as well as curative has been proved to me. Before I became interested in this teaching sickness caused me to lose two or three weeks from my work each year, while since that time, nearly seven years, I have not lost one day. The physical healings mean very much to us, because they are evidence of the availability and dependability of the law of God at all times and in every circumstance and because they encourage us to strive for the greater blessing of spiritual progress. Christian Science has eliminated fear and a sense of personal responsibility to a large extent from my business life, together with jealous and selfish motives, enabling me to see that the Father's business embraces all right activity and service.
