It was not until all other means of help were found wanting, that I consented to try Christian Science. A minor and a so-called dangerous operation had left me better for a short time only. While living in Urbana, Illinois, I suddenly grew worse than ever and suffered untold pain for a year. No part of the body was normal. The sight of both eyes became crossed, and finally I lapsed into an unconscious state, having to be cared for day and night. This condition lasted three months. A neighbor told my mother and my husband that Christian Science could heal me, but not until they were told that materia medica had done all it could and there was positively no hope at all, did they consent to try it. Then a practitioner was called and treatment given. In a few days I awakened to the realization of my surroundings. Most of the discordant conditions were gone, and the few that remained disappeared in the next two weeks. I attended my first Christian Science church service in about ten days after the treatments were begun.
Over four years have passed since this healing, proving to me beyond doubt that it is permanent. In these years we, a family of three, have proved many times that the Christ is as available to-day as in the days of Jesus and the prophets. Christian Science has given to us the understanding of God, making the Bible the Book of books, that brings joy, peace, harmony, and health into our lives. We are trying each day to prove by living true to this teaching that we are grateful for the abundance of blessings which are ours— grateful to our revered Leader and for the teaching and wise counsel of her students.—Vincennes, Ind.
