On reading in Psalms, "Let the redeemed...

From the February 1920 issue of The Christian Science Journal

On reading in Psalms, "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy," I realized it was time that my gratitude and love for Christian Science were expressed; for it has proved to me that it is the truth that heals both sickness and sin.

I was brought up in a strict orthodox church, but later on drifted away from things religious and even ceased to pray, for I could not honestly say, "Thy will be done." When Christian Science came to me at a time of great mental trouble and unhappiness, I turned to it, knowing that I had found the answer to life's problems. Through its teachings I have had many healings, not the least of which was the overcoming of a restless striving for worldly pleasures. For years I was in bondage to lung trouble. I was sent to the Rocky Mountain region and followed faithfully a strict material regime, and after more than ten years of it, was told that I had a "climatic cure," which meant I would always have to live in a dry climate and obey so-called health rules. About eight years ago Christian Science was brought to my attention by the wonderful healing of a sister and shortly afterwards it became necessary for me to come East to live. Without an understanding of this teaching I would have been filled with fear, but with the freedom Truth imparts I have been wonderfully blessed with health and strength.

Among many other healings was that of a structural defect of the eve for which I was wearing two kinds of glasses. This healing took place during my first reading of Science and Health and has been permanent. I know that the only way to prove my thankfulness to God and to our Way-shower, the Master, and my gratitude to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, is to strive earnestly day by day to live as His child should, governed by Truth and Love.—
