It has come to me very clearly that if one is to "owe no man," it will be necessary to know a higher meaning than that we are just to pay our financial and social obligations. I have been thinking of the debt of gratitude I owe to God, to the Way-shower, Christ Jesus, and to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for giving to the world the truth which heals all mankind of the multitude of ills, discords, and inharmonies to which the world is in bondage. This debt I owe is of long standing, and one which requires a lifetime to repay, but I should like to express my gratitude for some of the healings which have come to me and mine in the short time truth has been unfolding in my consciousness.
I have seen many demonstrations of God's allness in healing sickness and inharmonies of many kinds, both physical and financial, in the overcoming of colds, sore throat, headaches; I have seen a dislocated jaw put back in place by the power of Truth, mumps overcome in a few days, grippe healed in a very short time. But greater than all these are the healings of disposition, the uplifting of character, the putting of the unclean, uncahritable, and destructive out of thought, and the replacing with the pure, charitable, and constructive, which not only blesses one's self, but those with whom one comes in contact.
I am grateful for a larger understanding of Love, and that giving does not consist of material gifts, but of the right, purifying, and uplifting thought which blesses all mankind. I am indeed grateful for Christian Science, for the services, the literature, and to all who take part in this movement for the healing of all discordant conditions.— Jamaica Plain, Mass.
