Testimonies of Healing

Nine years ago my first testimony...

From the May 1920 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Nine years ago my first testimony was published in the Journal, and it certainly is time I once more publicly expressed gratitude for a further bountiful unfolding of good.

One day a great longing arose to have class instruction, and this promise stood out with startling clearness, "No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly." I decided there and then that to the best of my endeavor I would "walk uprightly," and leave the "good thing" so much desired to the unfoldment of the one Mind. The result was that in a comparatively short time the way opened normally and naturally to take this instruction and it was a never to be forgotten experience. Later on, work was found with the Publishing Society and advantage taken of attending many lectures on Christian Science and two annual meetings in The Mother Church. The journey back was also a beautiful demonstration of supply. "No good thing" was withheld; God's abundance was indeed proved over and over again.

I wish to relate two later experiences which have done much in clearing the mental pathway in the march from materiality to spirituality. After some months of strenuous work a complete breakdown occurred. Help in Christian Science was given, so that in a month's time I was able to resume my duties. More help seemed necessary, however, but through the patient, loving help of a practitioner I was enabled to stick to my work the rest of the time, and the error eventually uncovered was fear. The consequent freedom from fear experienced is beautiful, and much more patience and humility have been expressed. This testimony would not be complete without a word of appreciation for the great love and kindness shown by the members of the church, proving that Christian Science does indeed demonstrate the brotherhood of man.
