Christian Science was presented to me by a friend when I was indeed in need of it. I was physically ill and mentally depressed, and had given up all faith in God. As I was not conscious of having done any wrong. I could not understand why suffering was necessary . and the contradictory views of ministers had destroyed my then uncertain belief in God.
A severe battle took place within me before requesting the help of a Christian Science practitioner, which was lovingly given. The healing of a weak heart and insomnia was not instantaneous, but gradually these evils and others vanished. Since coming into Christian Science and studying the textbook, "Science and Health, with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I have done military service and have been on mountain tours without experiencing any difficulty whatsoever and throughout the years that have followed the healing I have been able to do office work without missing even half a day on account of illness. I was healed of influenza during the epidemic without losing any time from my work, although I was told several times while at the office, "You are ill and should be at home and in bed." This was unnecessary, for in spite of the sense testimony, I was able to take a business trip over a mountain, which required six hours each way.
For all these blessings I am deeply thankful to God, but the greatest joy and gratitude are not for the physical healing, but for the knowledge of God, for which I had yearned for a long time. Mrs. Eddy's teaching that God is omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent Mind destroys all belief in a material or manlike God and simultaneously the cause for much unbelief. My gratitude to Mrs. Eddy is great and is increasing with each step toward Truth, which is enabling me to appreciate more and more what she has done for all mankind.— Boston, Massachusetts.
