I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science by testifying to what it has done for me. Before I knew anything of this Science I thought I had no God. After placing my affection on material persons and things, only to be disappointed, I took up the study of Christian Science, and I have not only found that "peace of God which passeth all understanding' but have found health as well. Before taking up this study I suffered from many chronic diseases, one of which was an organic trouble from which I suffered severely for many years, sick headaches, and stomach and bowel trouble, all of which have been healed.
I attended the churches of nearly all the different denominations, ever looking for that which satisfies reason, but found it not, so I discontinued attendance at church for years, and thought I hated the Bible. But what a change "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy has brought to my thought regarding that book of Life. The explanation of Jesus' words and works and the understanding of God as Life and that there is a Science of Life mean more to me than words can express. Jesus said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments," and our Leader says (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 206): "As you journey, and betimes sigh for rest 'beside the still waters,' ponder this lesson of love. Learn its purpose; and in hope and faith, where heart meets heart reciprocally blest, drink with me the living waters of the spirit of my life-purpose, to impress humanity with the genuine recognition of practical, operative Christian Science."
I wish to express my gratitude and appreciation for all the channels our Leader has provided for us to receive and to give help; for each and all of the Christian Science periodicals, including The Christian Science Monitor.—San Jose, California.
