Testimonies of Healing

It has long been my desire to express...

From the September 1921 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It has long been my desire to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for the many blessings which I have received through its teachings. Just now, when each day brings more and more of spiritual understanding and unfoldment, seems the right time to share with others my joyful gratitude. Christian Science has revealed the Principle of life to me by which I strive to live each day. An understanding of this Science is so necessary and so very helpful in everyday high school life. I could not begin to tell of the countless ways in which it enables one to prove the omnipotence and omnipresence of the one Mind, God. Just recently I had an opportunity to demonstrate this. While working in the chemistry laboratory, my partner was heating a solution in a test tube and holding the tube with the open mouth toward me as I bent over the table to write. As she held the tube in this position, the solution became hot, and boiled with such violence that it spurted out of the tube and splashed on my bare neck. The pain seemed almost unbearable, but I was able to think clearly and to realize the nothingness of error. In order not to attract the attention of others I left the room and went downstairs, where I could be alone. In a very few minutes I returned to the laboratory with not a suggestion of pain, and the discoloration resulting from the boiling solution fast disappearing. In doing the mental work the quotation from page 228 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, "There is no power apart from God," destroyed all sense of accident, pain, or inflammation.

! am more grateful than words can express, and it is with loving gratitude that I give my testimony of the help which I am continually receiving through Christian Science. I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy for revealing the truth to this age and for the Christian Science literature which she established.—
