I came to Christian Science, not for physical healing, but because I was in search of a religion which could be proved. I was brought up in a denominational church and was faithful to its teaching, but did not find the deep peace or complete understanding of God which I desired. All seemed to be enveloped in mystery and darkness. I commenced investigating other religions but was likewise disappointed, until one day several years ago, I received a copy of Der Herold der Christian Science from a dear friend. I read very diligently, and after having read it through several times I knew that there was much truth to be found in it, although much of it was incomprehensible to me at first. I subscribed for Der Herold immediately, and soon afterward purchased "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and commenced studying it in connection with the Bible.
Until that time the Bible had been as a closed book to me. Gradually I commenced to understand the truth, but it required much patience and perseverance to free myself completely from the old traditions. The channels were already so filled that they had to be completely cleaned out first. Then a great test was put to me; I was obliged to place myself entirely in God's care in order to be healed. With the help of a sincere friend I came out of this experience purified and healed, since which time I have openly turned to Christian Science. I have found much happiness and a deep peace, and have also been able to help others. I am deeply thankful to our dear Father. God, for the great love which He has proved to me and grateful to Christ Jesus the Way-shower, and to Mrs. Eddy, who so selflessly searched the way for us which Christ Jesus taught.
