Christian Science was brought to my notice about ten years ago by a Christian Scientist. I had heard of it before; but on this occasion I began to study it, and to practice it by demonstrating its truths. I asked a Christian Science practitioner to give me treatment. I was living and working on a fruit farm in the country, where there were two other students of Christian Science, who helped me to understand it. One night I was awakened from sleep by a fever. I at once began to know the truth with all the understanding I had, and in about five minutes it had disappeared; and I went to sleep again and awaked refreshed. At another time a rusty nail ran into my foot. I came down hard on this nail; but I just pulled it out, and held fast to the fact that matter has no sensation but that all is divine Mind; and I experienced no inconvenience. I was also healed of the tobacco habit, in about two weeks. It was the first evil I sought to overcome with Christian Science. I said to myself, "I will try it on this tobacco, and see if Christian Science is what its adherents say it is." I had my proof; and I came to see that Christian Science could deliver from all that is unlike God, good. In fact, I was filled with bliss as I began to realize something of the potency of Christian Science, and I said nothing about my healing for several days.
I have also been healed of resentment. This error was a great stumblingblock to me. There were times when I thought I was healed of it, only to find I was still holding on to it in one form or another. I am most grateful for this healing, as I have often found that when there has been some physical complaint, resentment or something like it was being held.
