About five years ago I became interested in Christian Science, and I want to express my most sincere gratitude for all the blessings I have received through a slight understanding of this wonderful religion. I came to Science more to satisfy a longing for God than because of ill health. In a moment of loneliness, at the suggestion of a friend, I visited a Christian Science Reading Room. I came out feeling that I had found the true God,—the God of love, peace, and righteousness.
I have been helped mentally and physically, and cured of the smoking habit. After reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I lost all desire to smoke. On page 454 of this book we read, "It need not be added that the use of tobacco or intoxicating drinks is not in harmony with Christian Science." This simple truth made a deep impression in my thought. It revealed to me that I could not be a Christian Scientist while I remained a slave to error, evil. Christ Jesus said, "No man can serve two masters. ... Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
For the correct interpretation of divine Principle, God, which has enabled me to make this and other demonstrations, and brought peace and joy to my life, I am deeply grateful.—Brooklyn, N. Y.
