This testimony is an obligation...

From the September 1923 issue of The Christian Science Journal

This testimony is an obligation which I have owed for some time, for I have often received much benefit from reading of the experiences of others.

Some thirteen years ago I turned to Christian Science for help, as I was a great sufferer. Through this means, and with the aid of a practitioner, I was healed in three weeks of long standing physical ills, among them neuralgia of the head, sties, boils in the ear, stomach trouble, weakness, and many other minor ills; also of an impediment in my speech, which not only caused me annoyance, but was a constant source of mortification and shame. I am also happy to state I have overcome fear to a great extent; and a very ugly and hasty temper has been mastered.

I am grateful to the practitioners, although I have asked for help only three times in all these years, since this comforting religion has enabled me to help myself and others. My gratitude for membership in The Mother Church and a local Christian Science church, also for class instruction, knows no bounds. My life can best express the love and gratitude I feel for Mary Baker Eddy, our Leader, who made all these channels possible that we might learn to know God, and realize that these blessings are offered to all mankind.—
