I wish to testify that I was healed of valvular heart disease, five years ago, through Christian Science. At the time I went to a practitioner for help I was, to mortal sense, very near the end. My physician gave me no encouragement, only telling me that it depended upon my care of myself how long the time would be. I shall never forget the blessed relief following the first treatment that I received from a Christian Science practitioner. For the first time in months I slept like a child, free from agonizing pain and a sense of suffocation. Another trouble of twenty years' standing, which doctors had told me could not be cured, was overcome at the same time.
My complete healing did not come at once; but through the loving, consecrated work of a practitioner it did come, fully and completely. I am well and strong. During the absence of my son, who was in the service, I did work incident to living on a farm that would have taxed the strength of a far stronger woman than I; yet I did it with ease, and rarely with even a sense of weariness at the close of the day. Since my first healing, I have had many other healings, some instantaneous, others requiring more time. In the prevention and overcoming of colds, Christian Science has also been a wonderful help. Not once in over five years have I been really ill from a cold; whereas, in previous years, I was subject to severe and persistent colds.
I am so grateful to know that God is "a very present help in trouble," as a provable fact and not merely as a theory. The knowledge of God that I have gained from the study of Christian Science gives me peace and happiness, and a sense of security that I never knew before. I thank God for Christian Science, and for the joy and health and peace it is bringing to mankind; for its consecrated practitioners, who are so faithfully helping us to realize our heritage as children of God, and who are proving to the world that Christian healing is operative to-day as in the early Christian centuries.—Rochester, N.
