For several years I was a victim of hay fever. I dreaded to see the fall of the year come, on account of the return of this disease and the misery it caused me. The fall after I came into Science, when the first attack came, a neighbor who was a Christian Scientist healed me in one treatment. This was my first healing. Shortly afterwards I was healed of hemorrhoids. This trouble had caused me great pain and discomfort since childhood, and, although I had used every material remedy brought to my attention, I obtained very little relief. With the loving help of a practitioner I was entirely freed from this difficulty in three days, and have suffered no return of it.
Recently I was healed of an obstruction in my nose which had annoyed me for five years. A year prior to the time I became interested in Christian Science the irritation became so great and the growth so large that I sought relief from a physician. He said that the condition was bringing on many other disorders and was undermining my health in general, and that an immediate operation was necessary. My fear of the operation was greater than the fear of what the obstruction might do to my health, so I would not allow him to operate. He told me then that the nostrils would eventually close, and this is what threatened to happen a short time ago. I applied for Christian Science treatment, and was completely healed in seven days. I experienced no pain, nor was there any sort of discord manifested; the growth just disappeared.
My small daughter suffered for three years from an affliction resulting from smallpox. I sought the advice of many physicians, but received very little encouragement. Finally I took her to a physician who told me that nothing could be done to effect a permanent cure, but that there was a possibility she might outgrow the trouble. However, instead of getting better, the infection grew worse as she became older, and at the time I began the study of Christian Science she was suffering greatly from it. After two months' study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, together with the Bible, and the application of the truth I gained through this study, she was completely healed.
