In the summer of 1922 a rash appeared on my body, accompanied by a terrible itching sensation as soon as I was warmly in bed; and I could get no sleep. This tormented me for weeks. None of the home remedies applied had the least effect, so I went to a doctor. He gave me a black ointment to rub on the body, after which I had to take a bath. But this also was without success. When I reported the result to him he advised me to undergo a radical cure in the hospital.
As I did not wish to give up my business, being the father of a family, I inquired of my father as to what he thought I should do. He is seventy-four years of age. He had been suffering from many seemingly chronic and incurable maladies, because of which the doctors had given him up, and had been healed through Christian Science, to which he is devoted. He attends the Sunday services and the Wednesday evening testimony meetings faithfully, also visits the Reading Room, and is rejuvenated and well. He gave me Heralds to read, which interested me greatly, and also sent me to a practitioner. The latter helped me most unselfishly with Christian Science treatment. After my first visit the itching stopped and I could sleep again; after the second visit the rash disappeared. Two large boils appeared, and then vanished; and I was indeed happy, and grateful to Christian Science for being healed inside of six days.
