It was nearly twenty years ago that I became a student of Christian Science. At first I gained a great love for it and faith in it through the healing of my mother of a severe and very painful case of intercostal neuralgia of many years' standing, which had baffled all material means, and also through my own healing. I had suddenly lost my voice, and was also subject to spells of great exhaustion. I was especially worried over the condition of my throat, as I was in my first year of teaching reading, after spending several years in preparation for this work. My physician told me that I would always have to be very careful, and advised me not to go on with my work for a long time. The future looked very dark, and I felt very much discouraged. At this time a friend recommended that we try Christian Science. We acted upon this advice at once, with the wonderful result that my mother was completely healed in one treatment, and within three weeks my voice was fully restored to me. During the years that have intervened since my initial healing I have had many proofs of the healing efficacy of Christian Science, and each year has shown a steady gain in well being along every line.
I wish to express my gratitude for all of Mrs. Eddy's writings, for every one of them has been of inestimable value to me in gaining a fuller understanding of Christian Science.
