After many years of blessings which have come to our home through the study and application of Christian Science, I want to write an expression of gratitude.
Several years ago I visited an aunt who was a Christian Scientist. I did not know anything about Christian Science at that time, but saw plainly that she got something from her religion which I did not get from mine. After attending church services with her for some weeks I began to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I continued to read after my return home. Later our little daughter, three years old, was taken ill. As two physicians gave her no relief, the members of the family allowed me to call for help in Christian Science. I telephoned a lady whom I knew to be a Christian Scientist in a small town ten miles distant. She came, and what peace she brought to us! The child rested that night, the first time for several days, and the next day was up and dressed and ate heartily, much to the surprise of the family and friends. She had been healed at the first treatment. Only a mother whose great fear has been lifted, can know what my gratitude was for this expression of God's love; for the illness had been a serious one.
My earnest desire was to know how this healing had been brought about; so with a Quarterly I began a daily study of the Lesson-Sermons, and the truth began to unfold to me. In a short time it was my privilege to move to a city where I could attend church services and later enjoy membership in a branch church, also in The Mother Church. Many problems have been worked out in the years that have followed. A contagious disease was entirely overcome the second day with the help of a practitioner.
